Trader-BOB's MUSIC offers a Pre War, Gibson Banjo. 10-1/2" head, Maple resonator. Serial number 8850-16. Some confusing info online, but appears to be a 1927- or 1928 Style 1, banjo. Could have been a TB-1, or GB-1 when it left the factory. The present neck IS NOT THE ORIGINAL. Some one in the past, wanted this to be a 5 string, so the installed a 5 string neck, and recut the shape of the peghead to resemble to original design of the Style 1 peghead. BUT they installed the wrong era decal on the headstock. The block style fret markers look like   Japanese Vega markers. I realize that the decal inside the body is available right here on ebay. The picture I have taken is with a magnifying app, this does not look like a recent install. The dash 16 on the serial number fits into a web page I found, as a 1927. The serial number 8850-16 fits into 1928 production. The number in the maple resonator, matches the serial number. The tone ring gap between the rim, and the head, is 1/2".  The nuts, on the tension hooks are 5/15" long nuts. Unmarked hinged cover, 5 string tailpiece.  The real wood, hard case, I added with this banjo, fits it perfectly. Some dings, and marrs on the tolex. Hinges, and latches all good.  I expect some experts to chime in on this, all the help I get is appreciated. Between Gruhn's, Vintage guitar, and other web pages, some of the details are confusing.   Look at my feedback, buy with confidence !
