Description
This is a late 1920's Gibson TB3 5 string conversion Banjo.  This has all original pre war parts but since this is a 4 to 5 string conversion the neck is a Tim Davis 5 string neck.  This is a powerful banjo with a 2 piece flange from the Pre War era that will give you some serious tone.
This has a maple shell with a maple neck and resonator.  All of the hardware is nickel and original including an original 2 piece flange and original archtop ring.  This has an original 2 piece armrest and Grover Patent Presto tailpiece.
The neck is a curly maple neck with a rosewood fretboard.  The fretboard is so dark I wasn't sure if it was ebony but I see rosewood in this board.  The inlay is a wreath inlay pattern and this banjo looks great!!!  This banjo is the authentic pre war banjo and has a hardshell case.
Condition
The banjo is in fantastic shape with standard age for a Pre War.  The finish on the resonator is clean with a nice coat of checking.  The hardware has tarnish and age but that is good due to this being nearly 100 years old.  The neck is in really good shape with a clean fretboard and frets that are in good shape.  This has spikes in frets 7, 9 and 10.  The banjo is in really good shape with a clean case.
Set Up
This has a Pre EPA Remo frosted head which is set to 90.  The banjo has a quality bridge and new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  This is a cannon that has been prepared to operate at it's maximum performance.
