Offered is the original, first printing of the poster created to promote a series of concerts, presented by Bill Graham at Winterland in San Francisco, from April 17-19, 1969. These memorable shows featured performances by The Band, Sons of Champlin and Ace of Cups. This cool, psychedelic poster was designed by Randy Tuten and is designated BG-169-OP-1 in the Eric King Guide. In addition this one has been SIGNED by Randy Tuten in silver paint pen at lower right. Of historical note is that these were the first concerts that The Band played under the name "The Band." These were not to be their final performances at Winterland, however. As almost everyone knows, The Band's retirement concert event, The Last Waltz, was filmed there on November 25, 1976 by Martin Scorsese. It remains one of the greatest concert films ever made. The offered example measures approx. 14x21 and is in sparkling Near Mint condition.
