    Description
The Earl Scruggs 49 Classic is a copy of a Banjo that was played by Earl Scruggs.  The difference between this and a Scruggs Standard is this banjo has a rosewood fretboard with bowtie inlay.  This banjo is all original.  I will mention the neck has a repair from a break that is right at the headstock but the repair is so good it is almost hidden.  This is a stellar instrument that is fully functional and set up and ready to go.
The neck and resonator are curly maple.  This has a rosewood fretboard with a bowtie inlay pattern.  The headstock also has inlay work and the truss rod cover has Earl Scruggs’ signature.
The hardware is nickel and all original and includes a Gibson USA one piece flange and a Gibson USA Kulesh Tone ring.
These 49 Classic Banjos are sort of rare, at least they do not come up for sale often.  This is a gorgeous all original example and it includes an original hardshell case as well.
    Condition
I mentioned the neck has a repair but the condition of the banjo is top quality.  The finish is clean all throughout the neck and resonator.  The frets and fretboard are in great shape and there are no spikes or 5th string capo and there never was.  The lack of spikes or 5th string capo along with the clean frets are all signs this wasn’t played much at all.  There would have to be some way to capo the 5th string if this was used as a regular jammer and the frets show virtually no wear at all.
The hardware is in great shape and we took this banjo apart and buffed all the metal to make it shine.  Even the case is clean.  This is a very attractive example of a Scruggs 49 Classic.
    Set Up
The head is a new Remo frosted head set to 90.  The bridge and strings are both Huber and are both new.  This is properly set up and this has serious bang that is balanced with sweet tone.  This banjo is set up and ready to go waiting for you to bring all of it’s power to life!!
