Description
Gibson Banjo Copy Flying Eagle 5-String Hardshell Case - Archtop Ring. This is a parts banjo made into a copy of an authentic Gibson banjo. I purchased this banjo years ago from a local pawn shop and am not totally sure as to where the various parts were obtained from. Some of the parts (the head, the Sullivan brand case, etc) seem to suggest that some of the parts may have come from First Quality Music in Kentucky. The armrest seems to be genuinely Gibson, however the rest of the components do not.
The tone ring seems to be a 4-hole archtop ring (not sure of the brand). The Gibson sticker in the rim is a copy/not authentic. The inside of the resonator has previously been painted black.
I’m not sure of who built the neck, but it seems to be a relatively fine copy of a Gibson flying eagle pattern neck. It does have a small crack in the heel (as pictured) which may have been previously repaired, but seems to me that it will need to be repaired in order to avoid further breaking.
The banjo has been equipped with Keith D tuners as pictured, however they are missing the stoppers which allow for them to be set. The tuners are also very tight, so they may require some elbow grease to get them functioning properly again.
The hard shell case is Sullivan Banjo brand. The case is soiled on the inside, but still holds up with the handle still intact and the bulk of the strength of the case still holding up.
Though this banjo has seen better days, I believe that with proper TLC and a fresh setup, this can be a fine banjo with a great looking Gibson copy neck! I planned to take on this banjo as a project, but it has been sitting around for too long and I have decided to sell it off.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! I am selling this banjo and case as-is pictured, however I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. Please look carefully at the photos provided to understand what and the condition of what you are purchasing!
Once purchased, I will be properly packaging the banjo and shipping it via UPS or Fedex, which I have previously experience doing so without any issues.
