In my pictures you can see that the doll that is dressed with a green outfit, which is about 40 years old, is my original creation and was used to teach a workshop at a Modern Doll Convention and years later at the Fire-Flies Doll Convention. The other one is a Madame Alexander doll and is wearing an outfit made in a workshop I taught at a doll Club 2 years ago. It shows how many ways you can do it. The outfit, including boots, can be made in about 2 hours. It is easy enough that if you use glue (sewing is better; in my workshops we used Tacky glue) you can complete it even if you don't sew. At the Fire-Flies doll convention in Orlando, David Smith from the Vogue doll company made his and he had never done anything like that before!
You are given enough materials that you can make two outfits! For instance you can make the boots out of the gold lame' or you can make it out of leftover sage green suede. Make them out of the suede or contrasting fabric. You can even make one out of your own materials first, gluing or sewing. Then you will have the gist of what you really want. The suede is genuine suede ,oh so very expensive material, so you might want to experiment with felt. When I was a teacher I would have called that your sloppy copy! LOL
A side benefit, once you make the boots you can make as many pairs of shoes as you want, using the same pattern and instruction, just cut the pattern down for regular shoes, and let your imagination tell you how to
make one with a strap.
