Gretsch Sparkle Tenor Banjo. Exc. Condition.

Description

Gretsch Red Sparkle Tenor Banjo ca. 50's or 60's in excellent condition.  The banjo appears to be all original except bridge and strings.  It is unique in that it has a red sparkle veneer on the peghead and matching identical veneer goes around the outside of the rim.  The sparkle veneer actually sparkles but unfortunately photographs flat.  The banjo is about 32" long; 10 3/4" skin head; 3/8" laminated wood rim; friction pegs; 6-place adjustable tail piece and weighs about 3 lbs.  The neck is straight.  Painted fingerboard with m-o-p dots with a regular 23" scale.  Fret wear is hardly noticeable.  There is a small blemish on the rim veneer on the bass side (see oblique and close-up photos).  String height is 3/16" at fret 15 with a 1/2" bridge.  Please see photos for additional details  Comes in chip-board case.  Sold As Is.  Shipping only to U.S.A. lower 48 states.  Payment requested within 3 days from end of auction.
