    Description

Gretsch 'President' Brand nineteen fret Tenor Banjo made in about 1933.  This banjo is a somewhat scarce Gretsch model.  It is patterned after the mainstream Gretsch Broadkaster Tenor Banjos from the same era.  It is all original except the strings and possibly the bridge.  Red mahogany finished neck and resonator with a die-cast all metallic rim having 20 bracket bolts.  The once factory satin finish on the rim has turned gray inside and out with age.  Following the Gretsch Broadkaster style this banjo is a top-tension model with a tension hoop with an integral armrest.  The banjo is solid and there are no cracks in the wood, rim or tension hoop.  The finish on the neck shows play wear in the first position.  The resonator finish is shiny but with a few small scratches.  The peghead and fingerboard are pearloid and the engraved peghead and fingerboard coloring are very attractive.  The scale is 23".  The banjo is 34" long, 11" head, and weighs a little under 7 lbs.  There is some writing on the inside of the head.  It has Grover Pat. geared pegs and an adjustable tailpiece.  The string height is 3/16" at fret 15 with a 5/8" bridge. Some apparent fret wear in the first position.  Please see photos for additional details.  Sold As Is.   Comes in a worn period hsc with missing handle, loose hinge but latches work.  Shipping only to lower 48 states U.S.A.  Payment requested within 3 days from end of auction.
