Railroad Signal Switch Target Sign Metal Cast Iron

I was told this was part (item is incomplete) of a signal/switch target for the railroad.
The ear parts appear to be made of metal and the center of cast iron.
Shows rust, age, wear, tear, dents, dings, pieces missing, cracks, and the like.
Remember this piece was out in the elements for who knows how many years.
This item is in rough shape.
