Compact easy to carry shovels can be the difference between life and death when you are out in the wilderness. There are some cheap, poorly made folding shovels offered for sale that can't stand up to the grueling work they need to accomplish. They look good are but are but poorly made tools.
Our Survivor shovel is made for the field. This shovel is a little work horse. It is 10" folded and 24" when opened. It is made from heavy cast. The screw that holds the compass in check is strong and does not break. The handle is made from Sure Grip ABS hard rubber. The shaft is also coated with this rubber to prevent unnecessary accidents if the hand slips. This shovel comes in a convenient nylon pouch that has a loop for hanging, and a loop for the belt. Keep it your pack, on your side or hanging from your pack, your choice.
