This Mini USB WiFi LAN Adapter
is NOT plug and play.
The appropriate driver, which may be found on the included mini CD for covered operating systems,
MUST be installed by user.
Your operating system
WILL NOT automatically install the required driver.

IMPORTANT NOTES and LIMITATIONS:
At this time there is
NO KNOW DRIVER
to use this adapter with the
MACBOOK AIR
Linux is an open source operating system which comes in many configurations, both commercially and as modified privately.  Although a Linux driver is included,
LINUX USERS WILL LIKELY HAVE TO WRITE/BUILD/MODIFY THEIR OWN DRIVER TO MAKE THIS ADAPTER WORK.
We offer the following general instructions for installing your driver.
Please note, however, that we do not have the ability to offer technical support.
Windows Installation Instructions for Windows Vista or newer versions only
:
Insert USB WiFi LAN Adapter into a USB  2.0 or 3.0 slot on your computer.  A  notification may pop up indicating that the device is not installed.  Ignore or close this notification.
Place the mini CD that came with your  USB WiFi LAN Adapter into a CD or DVD drive, and close the tray.  An auto play dialog similar to the one shown  below may pop up.  Close it.  A notification may pop up indicating that no  device driver is installed.  Ignore or  close this notification.
Open your system’s Device Manager (Open  Control Panel, then select Device Manager by clicking on it in the Control  Panel – see screen shots below)
Click the small triangular pointer to  the left of “Network Adapters”.  Locate  the item “802.11n NIC”. If you do not see this item under “Network Adapters”,  click the pointer to the left of “Other Devices” to locate the item “802.11n  NIC” (see the screen shot above).
Right click on “802.11n NIC”, and select  Update Driver Software from the menu that pops out (see screen shot below).  (This selection may be worded slightly  different depending upon your version of Windows).
A dialog box will pop up (screen shot  below).  Select Browse My Computer for  Driver Software (or similar).
A browse dialog will pop up (screen shot  below).  Click the Browse button.
A “Browse for Folder” dialog box will  pop out (see below).  Make sure that the  disk drive shown is the CD or DVD drive that the mini disk is inserted in.  If this is not the case, then navigate to  that drive.  Once at the correct disk  drive, do the following: Click the Windows folder; then scroll down and click  the RTWLANU_Driver folder.  Select the subfolder  that matches your operating system.   Please note that folders ending in 64 are for systems running at 64  bits, and folders ending in 86 are for systems running at 32 bit.  In our case we selected the folder entitled  Win7x64 because our operating system is Windows 7, running at 64 bits.  Once you select your driver, click it once to  hi-light it, then click OK.
Click Next in the dialog that then pops  up (first screen shot below).  Another  dialog box similar to the second screen shot below should appear.  Your USB WiFi LAN Adapter should not be ready  to go.
Installation Instructions - Compatibility Mode - for
Server 2003 (SP1), and Server 2008 (SP1)
Insert USB WiFi LAN Adapter into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 slot on your computer.  A notification may pop up indicating that the device is not installed.  Ignore this notification.
Place the mini CD that came with your USB WiFi LAN Adapter into a CD or DVD drive, and close the tray.  An auto play dialog similar to the follow will pop up:
Click "Open folder to view files."  The following dialog box will pop up:
Double Click on the Windows folder, and scroll down to the Setup application (as shown):
Right Click on the Setup application icon, and select "Properties" from the pop out menu:
The Setup Properties dialog will pop up (as shown):
Click the Compatibility tab.  The tick the box to the right of "Run this program in compatibility mode for:, and pull down the drop down menu.  Select Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1), or Windows Server 2008 (Service Pack 1), if one of these two versions of Windows is your operating system.  If your operating system is Windows Vista or newer, use the first instructions above instead of using compatibility mode.  Here's what you'll see when you select a compatibility mode:
Note: Although some of the illustration images shows Windows XP (Service Pack 3) selected,
the adapter will not work with this operating system.
The next step is VERY important.  FIRST, click APPLY.  Then click OK.  Simply clicking OK will not work:
After clicking OK the following dialog box will reappear.  Double click on the Setup application icon (the once hi-lighted below)  Note that there are other files titled Setup, but they are not application files:
The setup application will now go through a normal Window program setup, but will do so in compatibility mode with the operation system you selected.  Simply follow the normal program installation prompts.
