Vintage 1921 Vega Fairbanks Tubaphone Banjo, Original Rim.
After years of enjoying the warm, deep tones of this vintage banjo, it's time for this gem to find a new home with someone who will give this instrument the play it deserves. While I adore this instrument, it hangs on my wall more than it should as I don't have the time to play it much anymore. The pot is a 12" Style M pot with a tubaphone tone ring. The pot was likely originally used for a tenor banjo. The neck is a Wyatt Fawley reproduction neck. It plays and feels lovely. I currently have the instrument setup with John Hartford Baritone baritone banjo strings hence the low pitch in the video. It can be easily switched back to standard steel strings with some basic setup work. I purchased this banjo from RetroFret in Brooklyn, NY in 2014.
