NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING. NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS. I WILL ALLOW LOCAL PICKUP.This is a
an old banjo ukulele, also called a banjolele. It has the brand name ‘Robert Pearson’ on the peg-face. On the metal ring it reads; ‘Pat Apld For’.
21 ¾ inches overall, the pot is 7 ¾ inches in diameter, and the head is 5 ½ inches across. The scale appears to be about 13 ½ inches. It has 17 frets. The frets look good, with little wear.
No odors at all. It has a brand-new set of Aquila ‘nylgut’ strings. Most uke players agree that these are the best.
I did some internet research on the Pearson brand.
Robert E. Pearson was an English luthier who was a well-known banjo-uke builder and worked for The C.F. Martin Guitar Co. In the 1920s, Pearson moved to California to work for the Schireson Bros, who marketed the ‘Hollywood’ brand of ukuleles, which Pearson probably designed.
This uke does have a few ‘issues’:
The wood on the side of the pot was cracked at some point, and has been repaired. This looks very solid, and is shown in the photos.
The fingerboard shows some wear & tear at the first three positions, but is in quite good shape.
The bridge appears to be a replacement.
The head skin has been replaced, but is real calf skin. Other than the skin & the bridge, everything else looks original.
It is an old banjo, and is not perfect. Being sold 'as-is'.
